Editorial Note

On April 16, 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered an address titled “The Chance for Peace” before the American Society of Newspaper Editors in Washington. The speech, which was broadcast over television and radio, appealed to the leadership of the Soviet Union to show evidence of peaceful purposes, particularly in negotiations on regulation of armaments and on Korea.
