After meeting with Comrade Ho Chi Minh, I return from Guangxi to Beijing today. The charge d'affair of the Soviet Union informed us yesterday that Comrade Molotov was scheduled to fly to Geneva on the 7^th to meet with Mendes-Francis, and he hoped that I also rushed back to Geneva in an early date, so as to promote the development of the negotiation.

Sau khi gặp đồng chí Hồ Chí Minh, hôm nay tôi từ Quảng Tây trở về Bắc Kinh. Đại biện lâm thời Liên Xô hôm qua đã thông báo với chúng tôi rằng đồng chí Molotov dự kiến sẽ bay đến Geneva vào ngày 7 để gặp Mendes-Francis, và ông hy vọng rằng tôi cũng sẽ sớm quay trở lại Geneva để thúc đẩy sự phát triển của cuộc đàm phán.

After asking for instruction from the Central Committee, I will need to stay in Beijing for two to three days before leaving [for Geneva]. Therefore I hope that you try to travel with Comrade Molotov on the 7^th. If there is not sufficient time for this, then try to travel to Geneva on the 8^th. For this matter please contact the Soviet side immediately, so that you may leave on the 7^th or the 8^th.

Sau khi xin chỉ thị của Ủy ban Trung ương, tôi sẽ phải ở lại Bắc Kinh hai đến ba ngày trước khi rời đi Geneva. Vì vậy, tôi hy vọng rằng đồng chí cố gắng đi cùng đồng chí Molotov vào ngày 7. Nếu không đủ thời gian cho việc này, thì hãy cố gắng đi Geneva vào ngày 8. Về vấn đề này, xin hãy liên lạc ngay với phía Liên Xô, để đồng chí có thể rời đi vào ngày 7 hoặc ngày 8.

In this telegram Zhou Enlai instructs Li Kenong to travel with Molotov to Geneva because Zhou needs to remain in Beijing to receive instructions from the Central Committee before leaving for Geneva.
