Ngày 22 tháng 04 năm 2009 một phái đoàn sĩ quan trong quân đội nhân dân cộng sản Việt-Nam do đại tá Đổ Minh Tuấn dẩn đầu bước chân xuống hàng không mẩu hạm USS John C। Stennis để tham quan củng như xem hải quân Mỷ điều phối những chiến đấu cơ cất cánh lên, hay hạ cánh xuống tàu trong hải phận Việt-Nam vùng Côn Sơn.
